Freedom of speech does not mean that you get to be an asshole and get away with it. Freedom of speech means that you may express your opinion in a comprehensive, non-derogatory fashion about any number of subjects, and you will not be liable for governmental interference.
Just like your right to own and handle a gun does not mean you can shoot anyone as you well please, neither does your right to manipulate language mean you can attack anyone you want and walk away without shouldering responsibility.
